The Sewer District Commissioners voted at a public Special Meeting on Feb 3 to direct staff to work with Kitsap Public Utility District (KPUD) to pave the way to merge with KPUD. The merger process is expected to take until the end of 2025. The public is welcome to the monthly Sewer District Board meetings, which will likely include updates on the merger process. The next monthly Sewer District Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb 13 at 5pm at the Fort Ward Community Hall, 9705 NE Evergreen, as well as via Zoom. More information will be posted on this website 24 hours before the meeting.

Also at the meeting, the Sewer District Board directed staff to work with the Bainbridge Island Metro Parks District on an agreement to transfer the Fort Ward Community Hall & the Parkview Dr NE lot to the Parks District. (The Parks District currently manages and maintains the Fort Ward Community Hall.) The Sewer District Board directed staff to include in the agreement that the Parkview Dr lot will remain as open space, and that the Community Hall would continue to be operated for current purposes.
